FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Decipher & Atlas Launches Public Trust Truthsayers Archive and 2025 Listening Infrastructure Report
When public reality becomes harder to read, who helps make it legible?
VICTORIA, British Columbia — September 28, 2026 — Decipher & Atlas Media Inc. today launched the Decipher & Atlas Public Trust Truthsayers Archive and its first Listening Infrastructure Report — Truthsayers List 2025.
The project begins with a simple premise:
Truth has its own gravity. But someone still has to help us see where it leads.
The Truthsayers Archive is a living public record designed to examine people and collectives whose documented work helps make difficult realities more legible under pressure — particularly when institutional failure, propaganda, misinformation, conflict, ecological strain, sentient harm, or public confusion make reality harder to interpret.
It is not a ranking of the world’s most truthful people, and inclusion does not mean a person is always correct.
It is a disclosed Decipher & Atlas assessment of whose work deserves attention, examination, continued listening, or caution.
“The archive does not tell readers what to think,” said founder and publisher R.N. Crawford. “It helps readers decide how to listen.”
The First Listening Infrastructure Report
The inaugural Truthsayers List 2025 recognizes twenty people and collectives whose work helped make reality more legible under pressure during 2025.
The selections are organized through the four Decipher & Atlas functions:
- MM — Mapping Meaning
- VT — Verifying Truth
- DI — Dynamic Interconnections
- EF — Embodying a Future
Five Annual Truthsayers are recognized in each category.
“This is not a ranking of the world’s best or most truthful people,” Crawford said. “It is an evidence-bound assessment of voices that helped reveal the meaning, evidence, interconnections, and future-facing work of the year.”

The Voice of the Time
The report is designed to identify what Decipher & Atlas calls the voice of the time — the people and collectives whose journalism, investigation, testimony, legal work, scientific record, civic action, environmental defence, or public thought helps future readers understand what was happening and why it mattered.
Truthsayers do not share a single profession, ideology, nationality, or method.
What connects them is function: their work makes something important more visible.
A Living Public Record
The Public Trust Truthsayers Archive extends beyond the annual list.
It is being developed as a searchable public record containing:
- individual and collective assessments
- D&A framework categories
- archive statuses
- evidence links
- related reports
- contested issues
- review dates
- correction histories
Archive statuses may include:
- Active Truthsayer
- Annual Truthsayer
- Lifetime Truthsayer
- Historical Truthsayer
- Contested Truthsayer
- Posthumous Truthsayer
- Counter-signal
- Removed from Active Index
- Not Yet Assessed
Absence from the archive does not imply that a person is unreliable.
Inclusion does not certify that a person is always correct.
Assessments are evidence-bound, disclosed, and revisable.
The purpose of the archive is not to replace public judgment, but to strengthen the conditions under which judgment becomes possible.
2025 Lifetime Truthsayer
The first Decipher & Atlas Lifetime Truthsayer Recognition is being awarded posthumously to Jane Goodall.
Goodall is recognized for a lifetime of work that changed how humans understand animals, intelligence, kinship, conservation, and responsibility toward the living world.
Her work reaches across all four Decipher & Atlas functions:
- mapping meaning
- verifying truth through long-term observation
- revealing ecological and social interconnections
- embodying a future grounded in responsibility and hope through action
Posthumous Press Record
The 2025 report also includes a Posthumous Press Record documenting the 2025 toll on journalists and media workers.
The record directs readers to established global monitoring systems, including:
- Committee to Protect Journalists
- Reporters Without Borders
- UNESCO Observatory of Killed Journalists
Decipher & Atlas intends to include this record in each annual Listening Infrastructure Report and to review whether individuals in the posthumous record warrant annual Truthsayer recognition.
How Selections Are Assessed
Annual selections are based on:
- year-specific distinction
- public legibility
- meaningful pressure
- a documented evidence trail
- fit with the D&A framework
- continuing listening value
Each proposed selection is also reviewed for contradictory evidence, credibility conflicts, geographic balance, post-year conduct, credible criticism, framework fit, and final editorial judgment.
Awards and institutional recognition may support an assessment. They do not determine inclusion.
The final judgment remains an evidence-bound and revisable Decipher & Atlas editorial assessment.
Why Listening Infrastructure?
Decipher & Atlas uses the term listening infrastructure to describe the people, records, institutions, evidence, and public voices that help societies maintain orientation when information becomes fragmented, manipulated, accelerated, or difficult to verify.
A source can support a specific claim.
A Truthsayer can help make a larger reality legible.
That distinction is central to the archive.
